about

Grande soufflante is a dialogue between the winds and some objects, enclosed in its materiality, in its contours. Wind from the north or tramontane, the wind creeps in, penetrates everywhere. Nothing can resist it. Carrying his indecipherable stories, without beginning and without end, he makes a gap sing or pushes a signal tape, sometimes giving a voice to inert things, suggesting an untimely complaint.

It is also a constant comings and goings between on the one hand the world of sounds - not really natural but that we can recognize or guess - and on the other hand the world of processed, triturated sounds that multiply voices and let us guess many other stories.

I have gleaned the recordings that provided the raw material for this piece from several particularly "fertile" places in the south of France - Le Barcarès - and northern Germany - Bremen and Bremerhaven.
